The season is here and everyone is talking about how prices have risen. The costumes, the fetes, the cost of travel and everything else. Really, is this a cultural event anymore? Have we come to this.... "Carnival" The business.
Ok, over the past few years we have gotten more exposure on an international level and as it seems, it has created a need to change the way we use to play mas. Personally, I welcome the all inclusive service. All that a masquerader needs is all in easy reach. Your food, drinks, mobile lavatory, mobile spa to fix yuh self up, down to protection in case you have a moment. So, I could kind a understand the need to raise the prices. But oh gosh! these prices lending to the exclusion of over worked, under compensated patrons like myself.
We the people need a little more from these bands, who for the nature of competition are setting themselves apart by the services they offer.
So here are some suggestions
A bra that fits, no matter what size
No extra costs for the type of under garment, thong, hi-cut, boy shorts etc.
No size discrimination
Please, be more sensitive to your oversees masqueraders (online registration should be open 24hrs) Some of us do have to work!
Let me stop here, cause I can't list all but let me mention one more
If you have a masquerader who played with you more than once... offer some kinda discount, a little 10% or something.
For my readers, add your concerns to the list.

I tend to agree with you... But for us to play on the world stage we have to allow "carnival" to evolve. Unfortunately with this evolution comes at a higher price tag.
It is now 2006 and there are still outsiders that believe we in the caribbean still swing off trees... We need to bring carnival and all that is associated with the culture to the next level. We are way past the "come mister tally man' tally Meh Banana" time period(I personally hate that stereotypical song). With all that said the ever increasing cost of carnival should be a gradual one. It should not be put on a high were the locals have to take loans to enjoy themselves for two days.
okay let me get off my soap box ....... Peace
